When is the best time to go to WDW?

When should we go to Disney World? A question I hear often. There are of course busy times and less busy times. I tell everyone that Disney has done a wonderful job of making the entire year busy so what used to be the "best" time to go may not be as empty as it used to be. But here are the traditional times for crowds:

BUSIEST

• Easter Week
• Mid-March through mid-April (Spring Break)
• June through August (summer vacation)
• Christmas week through Marathon weekend (the first or second weekend in January)

How to Handle Busiest Times:

• Make all Dining reservations 180 in advance!
• Take full advantage of staying on property and do your Fastpass+ selections 60 days in advance!
• Don't expect to do it all! Take it slow
• Have a plan, you don't have to plan every minute of every day, but have a plan and a back up just in case.
  

MODERATELY BUSY

• Mid-May (early summer)
• the week before Christmas week

How to Handle Moderately Busy Times:

• Dining still needs to be made early, you might find reservations closer to travel dates but the big popular restaurants will book early.
• Take advantage of down time, like middle of the day for swimming and shopping at Downtown Disney
• Mid May is a great time to see Star Tours
• Mickey's Very Merry Christmas party will end that week before Christmas so make sure you participate in all the fun!
  

LEAST BUSY

• mid-to-late January
• Early February
• Late April
• Shortly before Labor Day until the week before Thanksgiving
• Early December

How to Handle Least Busy Times:

• Know which rides will be closed
• Even though it's slow, dining may still be hard to get because they don't bring in all of their staff
  
• Shorter park hours so make sure you get there when it opens
• Take advantage of shorter lines and ride over and over!
